Welcome
===========================

Thanks for downloading Jnap! Jnap is a pure-Java implementation
of the Napster protocol for sharing of MP3s. It was designed to be
heavily multi-threaded in order to make it responsive at all times.

For more information on the Napster system, please see
http://www.napster.com.

Source Code
===========================

The Jnap source code is released as GPL. It is copyright (C) 1999, 2000
by Mike Perham. The current source can be found at SourceForge:

http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/?group_id=1019

Jnap comments should go in the public forums and bug reports should be
entered into the bug tracking tool. Links to both can be found at the
above URL.

Requirements
===========================

You need a recent Java VM to run Jnap in Linux. Please download
one of the following and make sure that the JDK bin directory
is in your PATH.

Blackdown JDK 1.2.2 -
http://www.blackdown.org/java-linux/mirrors.html

OR

Sun JDK 1.2.2 for Linux -

Starting jnap
===========================

On Unix, type "./jnap.sh". On Windows, use the jnap.bat file to start
Jnap. Assuming all goes well, you can then connect to the Napster
server and start searching for your favorite MP3s!

Future
===========================

Jnap will support as many Napster functions as possible. Nuff said.
