Welcome
===========================

Thanks for downloading Jnap! Jnap is a pure-Java implementation
of the Napster protocol for sharing of MP3s. It was designed to be
quick and easy to use on any system that supports Java 1.2.2 or
greater.

For more information on the Napster system, please see
http://www.napster.com.

Source Code
===========================

The Jnap source code is released as GPL. It is copyright (C) 1999, 2000
by Mike Perham. The current source can be found at SourceForge:

http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/jnap

Jnap comments should go in the public forums and bug reports should be
entered into the bug tracking tool. Links to both can be found at the
above URL.

Requirements
===========================

You need at least JRE 1.2.2 to run Jnap. If you do not already have
it installed, you can download the latest version from this URL and
install it.

Starting jnap
===========================

On Unix, type "./jnap.sh". On Windows, just double click the jnap.jar
file. Assuming all goes well, you can then connect to the Napster
server and start searching for your favorite MP3s!

Thanks
