I got a chance to listen to The Shins’s new album Wincing the Night Away a few times tonight. It’s not good; it doesn’t have a single song that caught my attention like their previous two albums. Which is interesting because when I saw them in concert in September, they played a few new tracks and I remember thinking “Those songs were so boring, play something that doesn’t suck.” Alas, looks like I wasn’t far from the mark.
UPDATE: They just finished performing as the musical guest on SNL tonight. Snooze-fest. Their first song was a new one and boring. The second was “New Slang” which is not a bad song but they played it slower than usual and with no energy at all.
