I did another track day on Friday at TWS. Fastest lap was a 2:18 which is slower than I’ve done in the past. The weather was perfect but the day was very crowded and so it was impossible to get a clean lap without hitting traffic. I think someone might have stolen my boots out of my garage because I couldn’t find them when I went to leave for the track - luckily a friend had an extra pair that (barely) fit me. There were also a lot of crashes. Nevertheless I had a great time and felt great at the end of the day.
The Daytona’s loose throttle continues to bother me. I took it into the dealer yesterday to have them look at it again. If they don’t make it right, I’m very close to simply selling the bike and buying something else. I’ve realized that I really enjoyed my SV650 on the track, it had enough power to be fun but not enough to get into too much trouble. The Daytona scares me at the end of the front straight - going into Turn 2 at 140mph, sitting up and braking like mad, bike very loose makes for an interesting and primal experience as sphincter control becomes key.
Downgrading to something with less power will allow me to refocus on corner speed and less on braking.
