Life in the Slow Lane

Bathroom - Day 5

November 25th, 2007 · No Comments

We hit a bit of a stumbling block today. We decided to use a textured paint to give the walls a little more flair than just a flat color. We went to HD this morning and bought the textured paint along with a gallon of (what we thought was) the cabinet color. The textured paint went up quite easily; it looks like the dreaded popcorn texture if you apply it heavily but looks pretty nice once it has been applied in reasonable amounts.

Once that was put on and allowed to dry for a few hours, we brushed a little bit of the cabinet color. Disaster. The color is not even close - it’s way too pink and looks terrible next to the tile. I took the pictures below to show you the texture, the wrong color and the cabinetry so you can see the correct color. I think they got the color right - we just took the wrong paint.

I’ll need to take a sample of the cabinet color to Lowe’s for them to color match tomorrow and put a first layer on then. Tammy’s leaving for Ft. Worth for the week so I’ll be finishing up alone but she was an excellent partner during this weekend’s work. Thanks, cutie!
