I was cringing and laughing at the same time at this video. I suppose this is how the English aristocracy enjoy trials riding.

With all due respect to Mr. Lampkin, I can’t believe that there wasn’t some computer trickery involved in that movie. For instance, notice when he goes up any of the many stairs, the rear wheel doesn’t bump up and down at all as you might expect. It traverses very smoothly as if going up a ramp instead of instead of the bump bump bump of steps. Suspicious. Also, do you honestly think a real English manor house with antique furniture and other valuables would allow him to ride through it like that, no matter how skilled he may be? Personally, I think not. Still, it was interesting.

Well then I stand corrected. Kudo’s to you, and Mr. Lampkin, for a very impressive film demonstrating his obvious skills. Still, I’d be interested in knowing what the insurance bill was; must have been horrendous.

The circumference of the wheel was large enough that it wouldn’t bump up and down. And I don’t see why you would think it would damage things. The tire’s not going to leave tracks and weight wouldn’t be more than about 300 lb.

It’s not about “leaving tracks”. I’m talking about bumping into things… knocking things over…accidentally scraping the handle bars against a wall… stuff like that. I’m not saying that he’s not a skilled rider but no matter how skilled he is, he is only human. As proof, I would have you look at the movie at the two minute and 40 second point. He’s in a room with a man sitting at a table. As he turns to leave, he actually scrapes the side of the table with the front tire and moves it about 6 inches and then he hits a chair with the side of the bike. If he is capable of doing that accidentally, he could have run into other things and caused significant damage. All I’m saying is that I just find it very interesting that the owners of the house would have taken that kind of risk, regardless of his skills and/or reputation.
