No matter which side you took in the last two years, consider this: America has elected a black president. 50 years ago it was difficult for a black person to vote, much less hold office. It’s a happy day when we prove a man can be elected commander-in-chief based on his merits, not the color of his skin.

My Dad is a veteran of WW II. He was Pennsylvania with little contact with blacks. One of the things that blew him away when he was on manuvers in Louisiana was that there were water fountains for blacks and separate ones for whites. For restaurants there was an entrance for blacks and an entrance for whites and etc. He had never been exposed to such things before. He was a preacher’s kid. He was raised that God loved all people - red, brown, yellow, black, or white.

He and his buddies decided if the entrance to an eating establishment was good enough for the blacks then it was good enough for them. So they deliberately encouraged the blacks by riding where they had to ride or eating where they had to eat & etc. I’m so proud of my Dad.

    We’ve come a long way.
